Discover 25 Years of Artistic Excellence at the Stouffville Studio Tour

Looking for the perfect fall getaway in Ontario? Just a little north of Toronto, the Stouffville Studio Tour invites you to celebrate 25 years of “Sharing Art with the Community.”

On October 18–19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, explore local art, meet talented creators, and soak up the brilliant autumn colours of Stouffville’s countryside. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a family looking for a weekend adventure, or a day tripper from the GTA, this free self-guided tour is one you won’t want to miss.

A Creative Legacy Since 2001

The Studio Tour began when founders Margaret Grandison and Ray McNeice, inspired by the Muskoka Studio Tour, brought artists and potters together at Stouffville’s historic municipal hall. By 2003, the event had grown to seven venues and 14 artists, including the beloved Latcham Art Centre. From the very beginning, visitors loved the chance to meet artists face-to-face, ask questions, and experience art where it’s created—a tradition that continues today. The Stouffville Studio Tour has been a nominee for a Premier’s Award for Excellence in Arts (2008) and has won the Community Impact Award for Creative Whitchurch Stouffville.

Growing, Changing, and Thriving

Over the past 25 years, the Tour has showcased up to 36 artists across 25 venues. It’s weathered changes in the community, embraced new artistic directions, and even pivoted online during the pandemic. This resilience is part of what makes the Stouffville Studio Tour one of Ontario’s most cherished art events.

“All of the artist members share the belief that we will all continue creating and inviting the curious to share in the passion for what we do.” says Ray. “This year we have created a brand-new website that will allow us to encourage other artists to join, making it very easy to become involved. We are putting an emphasis on expanding the program to keep it healthy with growth and variety of offerings.”

What’s New in 2025

This milestone year brings fresh energy:
  • Three new artists and one returning after a sabbatical.
  • A new mural by resident artist Colin Whitebread, in the historic downtown in the Village of Stouffville. A perfect Insta-moment.
  • Exciting experiments in media such as glasswork, painting, jewellery and mixed media that push creative boundaries.

The Tour is known for its creative diversity. Expect everything from kiln-formed glass and mosaics to textiles, sculpture, watercolour, acrylics, hand crafted silver and gold jewellery and pottery. Every participant is juried, ensuring artistic excellence.

A Family-Friendly Ontario Day Trip

Art is for everyone, and families are at the heart of this event. Kids, parents, and grandparents alike enjoy the open, welcoming atmosphere. Past visitors have called it “one of the most engaging cultural experiences near Toronto”. Best of all, admission is free, and there’s no pressure to buy (though you may find the perfect piece to take home).
