New Exibitions at Latcham

Discover Stouffville Blog

Beginning on Friday May 20, visitors to Latcham Art Centre can experience Both Sides Now, a two-person exhibition of abstract painting by artists Gary Evans and Frances Thomas. The title of this show is inspired by Joni Mitchell’s song of the same name, which provides a lyrical entry point to help viewers find connections between the artists’ distinct ways of working. This exhibition is guest curated by Carol-Ann Ryan. Join us for the reception on Friday May 27th, from 7 – 9 pm. Remarks will begin at 7:30, and the artists and curator will be in attendance to answer any and all questions you may have. This exhibition continues until Saturday July 2, 2022. Frances Thomas would like to acknowledge the generous support of the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) for this exhibition.

In early July, an intimate index opens at Latcham, featuring work by emerging Ontario artists Audrey Hansen, Ramolen Laruan and Paula McLean. For this exhibition, the artists consider the idea of memory in their own ways using sculptures and photos to start conversations about diaspora, community, loss, and the ways our minds make meaning from the world.
