When Construction Comes Calling

October 22, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

About this event

Whether it’s transit construction, utility improvements, or a major development, local businesses and the community as a whole will face either direct or indirect disruptions and impacts.

As a local business, customer, or property owner, how can you prepare to mitigate these inevitable impacts?

Join us to hear and learn from the experiences of our guests, who have worked on mitigating construction impacts in local communities for decades.

Maureen Sirois is the Chair of the Eglinton Way BIA and Past Chair of the Toronto Association of BIAs, as well as the Lead in a coalition of seven BIAs that have experienced the 14-year Metrolinx Eglinton Crosstown Project, which to date is still not open.

John Kiru, CEO of the Toronto Association of BIAs, has been involved in numerous instances of supporting members and Ontario jurisdictions through construction projects.

The evening will be an open forum of shared experiences, possible solutions, engagement with the project, and, most importantly, how to prepare yourself for when construction comes calling.
