SUMMARY:Worthy: The History of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps
DESCRIPTION:Worthy: The History of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps\nThis exhibit\, presented by the Canadian Tank Museum\, explores the history of one of Canada’s most storied fighting forces\, the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps (RCAC)\, and its founder\, Major-General Frederic Franklin Worthington. In this exhibit\, visitors will discover how Canada’s tank and armoured vehicle units have evolved from cavalry and armoured cars in the First World War to some of the world’s most advanced main battle tanks and fighting vehicles that protected Canadian troops in Afghanistan. They also will learn how “Worthy\,” as his troops knew him\, had a massive impact on the fighting prowess and professional skills of the Canadian Army’s armoured units and why he remains at the centre of their history\, identity\, and culture. \nThis exhibit is funded by the Government of Canada. \nOpen at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum\nJune 28\, 2025 – August 29\, 2026 \nWednesday – Saturday\, 10 AM – 4 PM\nFree Admission

SUMMARY:Kristiina Lahde: Emergent Geometries
DESCRIPTION:Kristiina Lahde’s art practice is anchored in everyday encounters with familiar objects: objects that are used to organise\, order\, or measure. Out of subtle repurposing\, ordinary things are elevated into objects of contemplation. Through careful and considered alteration and repetition\, new meanings arise. What emerges from her artworks is unexpected\, magical\, and poetic. \nIn Emergent Geometries straight pins are reimagined as monumental architecture\, discarded library catalogue cards become galactic spirals\, and knickknacks are transformed into installations that interweave the everyday and the infinite. \nKristiina Lahde is a Toronto-based artist whose work has been exhibited internationally. Her works are held in several private and public collections including the Canada Council Art Bank. In 2013 she was long listed for the Sobey Art Award. She is represented by MKG 127. \nKristiina would like to acknowledge the Ontario Arts Council for their support of this project through their Exhibition Assistance Program. \nProgram Brochure
