Building close-knit communities through the Arts

Discover Stouffville Blog

At Latcham Art Centre we have experienced how art can be a powerful tool to foster social engagement and to enable connections between different segments and different generations in our community. With support from the Trillium Foundation and the Government of Ontario, Latcham has been developing ambitious and exciting new projects to support local artists and to strengthen our community.

This summer, Stouffville will host the Canadian premiere of a multi-awarded international initiative that uses the visual arts as an instrument to combat seniors’ isolation, promote active aging, and provide a space for seniors to build meaningful social connections across generations. A group of seniors and a group of local youth will be selected to work collaboratively in a community art project that will certainly make an impact a leave a positive legacy in our town.

We are also working collaboratively with different Town departments on a number of projects to make art more visible and a part of residents’ everyday lives. We believe art can play a role in bringing positive social, cultural, and urban change. At Latcham Art Centre we are committed to keeping inspiring Stouffville!
